Most people know us for paragliding — the training, the tandem flights, the views over Mont Yamaska. But there's another side to Summit that doesn't always make the headlines: we're also a serious resource for hang glider pilots, and our equipment offering has quietly grown into something worth talking about.
WoodyValley Harnesses, Made to Measure
For the uninitiated, a hang gliding harness is not the same animal as a paragliding harness. The geometry is completely different — you're prone, flying face-down, and the connection to the glider puts load on your body in ways that demand a purpose-built solution. Generic or poorly fitted harnesses are uncomfortable at best, and a genuine safety issue at worst.
We carry WoodyValley harnesses, an Italian manufacturer with decades of experience designing equipment that pilots actually trust their lives to. WoodyValley builds some of the most refined harnesses in the sport, with an emphasis on ergonomics, weight distribution, and clean aerodynamics.
More importantly: we don't just sell off-the-shelf sizes. Three pilots have recently had custom harnesses made through us, fitted to their exact morphology. Getting measured, placing the order, and receiving a harness built specifically for you — that's the level of care these pilots wanted, and what we were able to provide.
If you've been flying in a harness that never quite fit right, or if you're stepping into hang gliding for the first time and want to start with equipment that works for your body rather than against it, come talk to us.
Reserve Parachutes Designed for Hang Gliding
Hang gliders and paragliders share the sky — and the same fundamental need for a reserve parachute. But here too, the equipment is not interchangeable.
Hang gliding reserves are designed to deploy reliably at the higher speeds and different attitudes typical of hang gliding flight. The container geometry, the bridle length, the deployment dynamics — all of it is engineered around the specific emergency scenarios a hang glider pilot might face.
We carry companion reserves specifically adapted to hang gliding, selected for their deployment characteristics and their compatibility with the harness systems we work with. If you're flying without a reserve, or flying with one that hasn't been repacked recently, let's talk.
We're Here for the Whole Free Flight Community
Summit exists to support pilots — not just the ones who started here, and not just one discipline. Whether you paraglide, hang glide, or do both, we want to be a place you can turn to for equipment, guidance, and honest advice.
If you have questions about hang gliding equipment, want to discuss a harness fitting, or just want to know what we have in stock, reach out directly.
